Born and raised in Surrey, B.C. Holly Speers will be representing her hometown proudly in the upcoming WBSC Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier this August at Softball City in South Surrey.
Speers made her debut with the Women’s National Team in 2018, appearing in the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, the Canada Cup in Surrey and as part of the bronze medal winning squad at the Women’s Softball World Championships in Chiba, Japan. Speers holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration where she was a member of the Golden Flashes for four years from 2015-2018. Speers finished her time at Kent State sitting at or near the top of most hitting records for the school.
In her senior year, she led the country in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, walks and walks per game while setting single-season records in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) for batting average (.483), slugging percentage (1.042), walks (60) and on-base percentage (.656). Speers reached base in 48 of 50 games played during the season, and put together a streak of reaching base safely in 13 straight plate appearances.
