Blackie Spit Park

Blackie Spit Park is a great place to learn about the history and ecological significance of the area while enjoying the beautiful ocean views and wildlife this park has to offer. Blackie Spit is one of the best birding areas in Canada with over 300 species of birds recorded in a calendar year. Twice each year, Blackie Spit Park is a rest stop for birds and over 100,000 ducks and geese moving between southern wintering sites and northern summer breeding grounds! The sandbars are a favourite spot for Harbour Seals and their pups.

This park is full of amazing sights and sounds. With views of the Boundary Bay, watch for the many animals that call this place home. Its many trails will lead you through forest and meadow, along shorelines, and along the dyke to Dunsmuir Community Gardens. Bring your binoculars, a field guide, and a sense of adventure.
